Ha Giang Epic Loop Tour from Hanoi

If you’ve been reading and following this blog for a while, you probably read or saw me posting about the great Ha Giang Extreme Motorbike Loop in Northern Vietnam. Exploring this part of Vietnam on two wheels has been one of the best things I’ve ever done while traveling. Doing the Ha Giang Loop yourself is definitely my best recommendation for your trip to Vietnam.

I seriously recommend you to do this trip!

I did the Ha Giang Loop on my own. I arrived in Ha Giang, rented a motorbike, and drove the whole loop by myself. However, not every solo traveler is willing to do the loop alone. If you’re looking for like-minded people to drive with you can easily join an epic Ha Giang Loop tour.

The Ha Giang province is located 300 km north of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. Hanoi is probably the best place to start your adventure due to its direct connection with Ha Giang.

Vietnam Cheers Hostel organizes 3- days tour of the loop starting and finishing in Hanoi.

The Ha Giang Epic Tour takes you through the highlights of the Ha Giang province and its offering you some exclusive activities along the way.

So, if you want to experience one of Southeast Asia’s highlights with the locals while learning about their cultural heritage, here are a few reasons to join the organized Epic Ha Giang Loop Tour with Vietnam Cheers Hostel:

Native drivers & local insiders

During the tour, you’ll be guided by native Vietnamese drivers and Ha Giang insiders.

Having those around is great as you’ll get to learn about the ethnic minorities and their unique culture. Not only this but they also know the best off the beaten path spots on the way.

If you don’t feel very comfortable with your own driving skills, or you’re getting on a motorbike for the first time, then that’s the way to go. Guides are experienced drivers and will be there to help you improve your skills. Moreover, they know how to handle any unexpected situations that might occur along the way.

Sleep in a local homestay

Do you know that 90% of the Ha Giang population are ethnic minorities? Stay in a local homestay and immerse yourself in their style of living.

Located in the middle of green rice fields, you’ll have the chance to enjoy an authentic and delicious dinner with the whole group and the local family. Isn’t that awesome?!

The homestay is in a remote area surrounded by mountains, a river, and a lake. There’s also a nice waterfall nearby where you can do some rock jumping.

Visit H’mong King Palace

About 15 km away from Dong Van is the 100-year-old mansion of Hmong King Vuong Chinh Duc.

The palace is built like a traditional Chinese courtyard mansion. The historical place is a national monument recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Kayaking on Nho Que

The Epic Ha Giang Loop tour organized by Vietnam Cheers hostel is the only tour offering kayaking on the Nho Que river.

The views of the river from the road are spectacular. Kayaking on it it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You’ll definitely don’t want to skip this one!

The Nho Que river has a unique turquoise blue color. The river flows from the Nghiem Son Mountain that is 1 500 meters high. Nho Que river is 46 km long.

I know for sure that the next time I visit Vietnam and the Ha Giang Province, I would love to do kayaking on the Nho Que river. I love kayaking and this just seems like one of the best things to do while doing the Ha Giang Loop.

Visit Lung Tam village

When visiting the Lung Tam village, you’ll have the unique opportunity to learn how to make clothes by weaving flax.

Producing clothes by weaving flax is a complex process. Luckily, you’ll be able to witness part of it.

Local women are not only good at weaving but also master in textile dyeing with a unique technique and skills hardly seen in other parts of the country.  (reference)
